Gerald R. Gomberg, CLU – President
With more than 4 decades of experience in the financial services industry, Gerry Gomberg brings a wealth of experience to clients. After beginning his career at the accounting firm Frost Ruttenberg and Rothblatt, Gerry entered the insurance business as a life insurance brokerage supervisor in 1972. By 1975, he had completed his CLU designation and was named a National Brokerage Supervisor by CNA, one of the largest commercial insurers in the U.S. Shortly thereafter, Gerry partnered with Edward and Lawrence Brown to form BB&G, where he spent the next 3-plus decades growing the business to become one of the most prominent general agencies in the Chicago area. Gerry earned his degree from Southern Illinois University, in addition to being a certified public accountant and a chartered life underwriter, he is also a member of NAILBA – National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies.
Lawrence J. Brown, CLU – Vice President
Over nearly 50 years in the business world, Lawrence Brown has gained incredibly diverse experience across a variety of entrepreneurial, technological and marketing making business ventures. His most notable accomplishment was founding BB&G along with his father, Edward Brown and Gerald Gomberg in 1976. Today, BB&G is a diversified life, health and estate planning practice and one of the most successful general agencies in Chicago. Larry began his career in 1968 as a life insurance brokerage supervisor for CNA before starting BB&G in 1976. In addition to the CLU designation he earned in 1973, Larry also holds NASD series 7 and series 63 licenses. He is a member of NAILBA, the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies and NAIFA, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. Larry earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Illinois University.
Steven J. Brown, CLU, ChFC – Director of Advanced Planning
Steven Brown brings a unique perspective to his role as head of advanced planning at BB&G, because he began his career as an actuary. In various actuarial roles for CNA and Ernst & Young, Steve gained significant experience pricing insurance, conducting valuations, analyzing insurance plan data and assets and designing new insurance products. This experience gave him unusual perspective when he joined the family business in 1998. As insurance brokers and their clients learned, Steve’s past as an actuary makes him an invaluable resource for life insurance expense reduction, estate planning, and corporate insurance planning. Steve also leads the firm’s Life Settlements practice – he is expert in the appraisal and marketing of clients’ existing policies. Steve earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Daniel J. Brown – President, Brokerage Services
With nearly two decades of experience in the insurance industry and a wealth of knowledge in case design and underwriting, Dan leads the firm’s Brokerage Services business. Dan and his team work closely with brokers from around the country, managing cases from start, through the underwriting process to delivery. The BB&G Brokerage team take pride is delivering the best in service and support – whether they’re pre-screening cases, developing creative product strategies, running illustrations or navigating the underwriting process. Thanks to Dan’s leadership and focus on outstanding service, the BB&G Brokerage team has become an invaluable resource for countless insurance professionals. Dan earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University in Bloomington.
